From the late 1980s through the 1990s, when I entered the IT industry, IT was an amazing world. Instead of the preceding expensive heavy mainframes, computers at less than half the size and cost that had several times the processing performance appeared. People were freed from time and spatial constraints. New super high-speed networks realized communications via photos and videos instead of text. Use of the Internet became more prevalent after the turn of the century. It meant that the whole world was now linked by computers and networks. IT has changed the world around us and brought an amazing world that we had never before experienced.
Today, some people say that IT has fully matured or that its evolution has slowed and that it has entered a period of stability. I cannot agree with this opinion. I believe that IT is now advancing in another evolutionary direction. Rather than progress in speed or functionality which computers and networks have shown us, we now expect the technology, which has made our world convenient, to be safer and easier to use as well as less expensive and more efficient. We can also say that technology is now required to be good for the environment. It is the evolutionary direction that many people want technology to face crises such as global warming.
NCLC is an expert IT technology group. We will continue to place a great value on "amazement" and "excitement" in IT. We will discover technologies and products that the present age requires from a global perspective and deliver them to Japanese customers to contribute to the realization of a better society.
